About Sarah
I left teaching after ten years when I had my second child. I’ve now got 3 and do data science work from home during the day. I’ve got a little bit of spare time and would be happy to help with exam preparation or general maths support, either in person (if it’s feasible) or online. I think everyone learns best by really understanding why things work and focus on helping students to get familiar and confident with the ideas underpinning the skills they are learning.

I think the best way to succeed in Maths is to aim for deep understanding. I encourage students to ask questions, and focus on ensuring the basics are thoroughly understood so that more complex topics can be built onto strong foundations.
I love using puzzles and patterns to develop interest and build confidence, and I beleive that repeating familiar problems in varied ways can help to strengthen the understanding of the links between topics.
I’ve taught sixth form, maths and further maths modules including stats and mechanics as well as pure maths.
I've been a GCSE examiner so I have a decent understanding of how to secure marks in the exam.
I’ve taught IB and iGCSE and was head of junior maths (year 6-8).
I’ve marked, moderated and written entrance exams for a private school.
I started my career as a learning support assistant and have experience working with students with a range of additional needs.
