About Laura

Hi! I'm Miss Naylor and I am passionate about English, teaching and ensuring the next generation of problem solvers are equipped and ready to go out into the world after school.
I have been teaching 6 years and during this time have adapted from classroom based teaching, to online teaching, to a hybrid approach and still deliver some lessons remotely today. Remote learning doesn't have to be boring and dry, it can be so much more! English is about not only reading and writing, but performance, empathy and building an understanding of the human condition. I pride myself on my ability to make any student feel welcome in my classroom - whether it is in person or remotely - and do whatever I can to help them achieve their goals and ambitions.

About the lesson

English is not just not about being sat in silence reading books and answering questions endlessly... it's about interpretation, discussion, drama and so much more. I love to get my students debating, thinking critically and looking for new avenues of thought all of the time.
I am an experienced KS3 curriculum leader and also have 5+ years experience of teaching AQA GCSE English Literature and Language, focusing on a range of abilities and can tailor my approach to the individual student. Personalised learning is integral to me and every students' approach to learning is unique, so my lessons will always be matched to you and your learning needs.
My lessons will be 45 minutes long as I feel that this is the perfect length of time for students to be concentrating and using their working and long term memory before they develop fatigue and loose concentration. I am able to tutor for the full hour but have found from previous experience that this is too long for students after a full day of learning.
