About Jonathan

Through focused exercises and structured practice, you will develop a stronger sense of rhythm, timing, and musical awareness. My lessons are designed for advanced violinists who are ready to refine their technique, overcome challenges, and reach new levels of performance.

I still remember the quiet focus of preparing my violin—the feel of the instrument, the resonance of the strings, and the precision required to create a beautiful sound. Teaching adults and advanced learners has taught me the importance of patience, clarity, and an expressive approach to technique. My experience as a chamber musician shapes the way I teach bow control, rhythm, musical phrasing, and confident performance.
Holding an MMus from Université Laval's Faculty of Music, I specialize in breaking down complex musical concepts and repertoire into achievable steps. Over 13 years of teaching, I have guided 435 students in developing essential skills such as position shifting, ear training, tuning, and technical refinement, helping each learner progress at their own pace.
As a native Québécois speaker, I bring a unique cultural and musical perspective to my teaching. Whether you are beginning your violin journey, returning to the instrument, or preparing for ABRSM or Trinity exams, my goal is to help you build strong technique, musical confidence, and a lasting connection with your instrument.
