My teaching style is student centered. I want to meet them where they are and find effective ways to engage with them. I believe in an active learning style but a good old fashion lecture isn’t bad either.
I’ve learned that especially with regard to History and similar fields. The skills of writing and critical thinking are equally if not more valuable than knowing specific dates and events. We would spend a lot of our time crafting our skills and then applying historical concepts to create exceptional work.
Outside of higher level history and politics I love working with elementary age children. I have worked as a camp counselor and director of volunteers at a day camp the past few years. The relationships I have built with those kids are so rewarding and I hope to build similar ones with your child in a more academic setting.
