About Anshika

I have a TOPIK Level 6 certification (advanced speaker). TOPIK Level 6 is the highest level in the Korean proficiency exam called TOPIK. Besides that, my love for teaching has brought me to this site. I've been teaching for 8 years now. I completed my bachelor's in Law in 2021, my Korean language course in 2024 and as of now I am taking on freelance teaching in multiple languages.

Thanks for checking out my ad, first off! My classes are always one-on-one so you don't have to worry about class schedules. I can help you build a strong foundation of the very basics like reading and writing Hangeul and basic Korean conversations if you are an absolute beginner. If you already know these things then we can catch up to your speed and continue from there and on to different formations and tenses (and all the important bits) to help you hold a conversation. Since I'm a Seoul resident, I can also provide you with lots of culture insights through my experience as well as text books. Best part is no extra spending outside my class! You don't need to buy any other books. I have tons of reading materials which you can use to self study outside of my class. And of course, my classes are open to all age groups. Happy studying! :)

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

I have always loved learning languages and have been intrigued by different cultures and ways of living. In high school, I tried learning French and German by myself but with the pressure of Board exams, it was hard to continue. So just like everyone else, when I was introduced to K-dramas and K-Pop music I was very inclined towards learning more about it. It started with just memorizing the lyrics and went on to me wanting to understand the cultural niches behind the lyrics. I find that understanding the language is half the key to understanding the culture as well. Now it has been 5 years since I started learning Korean and I am here in Seoul working continuously toward my goal.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My main motivation behind teaching, to be honest, is quite selfish. It's that I really, really love teaching :D I was a volunteer in the teaching team in IDIA in my law school for 5 years. There is something very fulfilling about the job when the student not only understands the subject but also enjoys it with me.
  • How does your work help society?

Living in Seoul has taught me so many things that I wouldn't have learnt just by taking a trip here. Especially because I communicate with the locals and try to integrate in the community here, I have learnt many things that can never be taught through textbooks. Learning a foreign language opens the gates to so many new things besides just being able to speak another language. It introduces you to a new culture, a new way of living, and how you can still connect with a person with a completely different background and upbringing as yours. It broadens your perspective towards life.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

I honestly do not have a role model. I haven't met or know a lot of people in India tapping into foreign languages, especially an East Asian language, for a career. So I have just been figuring out a way by myself.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

I really love to sing and dance. I have been training in Indian classical music ever since I was a child. I trained in contemporary dance for one year but I like pop song choreo more. I like to play piano and guitar in my free time.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

A student that I taught for a year through my volunteer program for IDIA got his admission into a law school. I was extremely happy and congratulated him for his hard work. But it was endearing and heart-warming when he told me that I was a big part of it. We still keep in touch and he is doing great!
