About Rachel
Hi, I’m Rachel! I just graduated sixth form from Queen Ethelburga’s College and soon I’ll be starting my undergraduate economics degree at Warwick University. Looking back at the past few years in school, I feel like there are a lot of things that, if given a second chance, I would improve on. Therefore, I am willing to share those experiences, knowledge and techniques with the this site community.
Previously I’ve had 4 students on a one-to-one basis and they were of various ages, from 6 years old to 34 years old. It was during Summer holidays in China and I taught them basic English. These experiences taught me a lot about lesson preparation, tracking of time and the importance of communication between tutors and parents. I’ve also had the immense pleasure in assisting in the coaching of junior badminton players as I was previously a member of the Leicestershire badminton county team. I coached them for a year until I started boarding at QE which meant I couldn’t continue. However, needless to say, passing on my expertise to them was extremely enjoyable, I was spiritually replenished being a witness to every little improvement and the growing maturity in younger players.
The reasons I want to become a tutor are, first of all, to support my spending at university as I don’t want to hinder my parents to pay for my expenses. Secondly, I want to know about difficulties others experience whilst studying and I would like to see if I can be of help. This means that I’ll also be a student in the process, learning new things each time! Last but not least, after spending years fitting the relevant knowledge into my head, I don’t want to lose them, so I think that teaching others will also help me in retaining my knowledge and maybe even gaining a deeper understanding in it.
I am considered a native speaker for both English and Chinese. However, my Chinese is purely limited to speaking, reading and listening but I can type perfectly. I’m most confident in teaching maths and Chinese speaking but if anyone wants a session to discuss other subjects such as biology or French, I am more than willing to help. Also, the exam board I had for most of my subjects was AQA, so if you are taking exams with a different exam board, please tell me so I can adequately prepare.

Rachel is qualified level 1 badminton coach who previously used the extensive badminton skills she has learnt as a talented junior County player to help coach young people(aged 6-16 year old) at our junior club coaching sessions. She was committed and attended weekly for a number of years and is still miss by our junior members. She interacts and communicates very well with young people, she holds there attention and explains things well. I believe she would be beneficial in any teaching role.
Kind regards

UKCC Level 2 Licenced CoachRachel is an extremely lovable person and she has the passion for what she does. She was an excellent A-level student at Queen Ethelburga's college, where I witnessed her achievements throughout the years. She was a well-rounded individual who excelled at various academic subjects, as well as in extra-curriculum, such as debating, sports. She is fun and clever as a person, who can always light up the conversation with her interesting ideas. She has been conducting some informal tutoring in her areas of expertise and none came back with negative feedback. Therefore I believe, with her solid academic knowledge and charming personality, she is will be a fantastic tutor on Tutorful!
