About Jennifer
I have been a musician for most of my life. I see music as one of the international languages (much like math but I am far more fluent in music). It is a way for us to connect to each other, connect to ourselves and our emotions. Music evokes things in us that nothing else can. As a youth, I was very shy but music allowed me to express myself and come out of my shell. I hope the same can happen for my students. There is nothing more thrilling than teaching someone how to read music and watching as they can play a piece back to me after years of being unable to so much as read a note.

I always start with warm ups. Vocal cords are in need of "stretching" as much as any other part of the body. This also reinforces muscle memory for string players.
When I learn a new piece, I like to sight read first to see which parts are simple and which parts are more difficult. I will spend a little time on the simple parts to make sure they are solid before I put most of my practice time focus on one difficult part per practice session. I use this same method when I teach. I prefer to go at the student's pace so they feel comfortable and heard and can get the material.
I can work with beginner to intermediate violinists and slightly more advanced vocalists.
