About Jacqueline

As an experienced educator and dog-loving mother of two boys, I bring a unique perspective to teaching that combines both professional expertise and personal insight. Having guided numerous students through their GCSEs and A Levels, I understand the challenges these examinations present, not only from a teacher's standpoint but also as a parent navigating the journey alongside my children. My background includes extensive experience working with a broad range of neurotypical and neurodivergent students. I am committed to creating inclusive learning environments that cater to the individual needs of all students, particularly those who respond well to innovative approaches to learning. By tailoring my approach to make language and literature more accessible, I ensure that every student can engage meaningfully with the subject matter. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy exploring the countryside with my dogs and socialising with friends and family. I enjoy the theatre and read widely which helps me maintain a well-rounded perspective and fosters a genuine connection with my students. My commitment to their success is reflected in my dedication to nurturing their academic and personal growth. My professionalism and experience will guide you through your educational journey, helping you reach your goals with support every step of the way.

Approach to Tutoring My tutoring methodology is built on a foundation of inclusivity and differentiation, ensuring that each student receives a tailored learning experience. I focus on creating a supportive atmosphere that encourages engagement, curiosity, and confidence in their abilities. By employing a range of pedagogical techniques such as collaborative learning, guided discovery, and Socratic questioning, I facilitate deeper understanding and critical thinking skills among my students. Techniques and Teaching Methodology I implement a mix of traditional and contemporary approaches in my sessions. This includes: Assessment for Learning: Regular formative assessments allow me to gauge student comprehension and adjust my teaching methods accordingly. Scaffolded Support: I provide structured support, gradually increasing the complexity of tasks to promote independent learning. Interactive Learning: Engaging activities, discussions, and technology integration help maintain student interest and involvement in the subject matter. Typical Length of a Lesson Each lesson typically lasts for one hour, though two hour slots are the most beneficial for GCSE and A Level students. This duration is optimal for imparting key concepts while maintaining student focus and allowing time for questions and review. Qualifications and Experience As a dedicated senior leader and English Language and Literature specialist, I possess over 13 years of experience in delivering English across various educational levels, including KS3, GCSE, A-Level, and undergraduate studies. My qualifications include an MA in Education (PGCE L7) from UCL, London, and a BA in English from St Mary’s University, Twickenham. I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTLS) and am a member of the Society of Education & Training (MSET). Additionally, I have a proven track record in pastoral care, student progress, behaviour management, and policy implementation. My experience also includes two years of teaching A-Level English Literature to a Chelsea FC Under 23 professional football player, highlighting my ability to adapt teaching methods for diverse learning contexts. My Student Demographic My tutoring services are designed for students across a range of levels, including those at KS3, GCSE / IGCSE, A-Level, and undergraduate studies. I am equipped to work with learners of various ages and backgrounds, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring that each student can thrive within a supportive and inclusive environment.
