About Ewan
I am a recent First-Class Sociology Graduate from the University of Edinburgh, with Honours-level course experience in History and Politics alongside my main degree subject.
Most of my recent teaching/mentoring experience comes from my tenure as an Editor for the Leviathan Journal of Social and Political Science, where my role focused on helping young student writers to improve their writing skills, critical thinking, and research methods.
Several of these students informed me that their writing standards and coursework grades had significantly improved as a result of my mentorship.

My teaching mainly concerns essay technique, coursework support and exam preparation for Modern Studies and History. Tutoring sessions will be focused on:
finding and addressing problem areas in the student's essay/coursework writing techniques;
setting past papers for the student to complete under timed conditions (gradually moving from open-book to closed-book);
guiding the student through strong and weak sample answers to exam questions to promote a good understanding of marking criteria & exam skills;
assisting the student in revising, understanding, and applying course content;
reviewing the student's ongoing coursework.

If you have to cancel a lesson, please let me know in advance (preferably with at least 24 hours notice) to make it easier to reschedule or otherwise adjust. Rates may increase by up to 25% closer to exam periods due to an intensifying workload: this can be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
