About Olivia
As of 2024, I have eight years of teaching experience. I have taught everything from kindergarten to tenth grade, so I have the skills necessary to teach at most levels. I have lived in South America for the last five years, so I know how to teach across cultures. My specialties are language, especially teaching Spanish and teaching ESL (English as a second language). I continue to educate myself to be sure that my students are not learning from a stagnant pond. It brings me so much joy when a student grasps a new concept. I know what it takes to go from being a student of Spanish to being a speaker of Spanish. My laid-back, safe, conversational classes will help you learn how to communicate and express your thoughts effectively in Spanish.
Expect your first class to consist of me getting a feel for your Spanish level, your goals, and your interests. I will use that information to customize lessons moving forward. For instance, if your goal is to learn to read Spanish out loud smoothly, we will practice by reading an article on a subject that you personally are interested in.
Making mistakes is necessary when learning a new language. My classes are laid-back and safe so that you are free to make those mistakes without fear. I will also target any weaknesses that come up, or any specific goals that you have.
