About Varun
Hi, I’m Varun from Bangalore . I hold a master’s degree in Computer Science from IIIT Hyderabad. I began my career as a Software Engineer at EA Sports, working on scalable backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS. Later, I followed my passion for teaching and joined Masai School, where I train beginners and professionals in programming and computer science.
So far, I’ve mentored over 3,000 learners—including a single session with 1,200+ participants—and designed hundreds of course outlines. My strength lies in breaking down complex concepts into simple, practical lessons using real-world examples and analogies.
My teaching journey began back in 2015, when I started coaching college-level students in Computer Science subjects and programming. Later, during my Master’s, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for two years, helping students with Data Structures and Algorithms.
In 2020, I joined EA Sports as a Software Engineer, where I had the opportunity to work on highly scalable applications using a tech stack that included Java, Spring Boot, and AWS. After a year, I transitioned to an EdTech startup, Masai School, driven by my deep passion for teaching. I began as a DSA Instructor and eventually taught various subjects including Python, JavaScript, Java, and frameworks like FastAPI, Spring Boot, and Node.js. I also taught advanced topics such as System Design and AWS.
Over time, I moved into a senior role as a Senior Curriculum Lead, where I managed multiple departments—DSA, Frontend, Backend, Data Analytics, and SDET. During this journey, I created hundreds of curriculums across various domains and conducted sessions with batch sizes exceeding 1,000 students.
For the past two years, I’ve been deeply involved in Generative AI—spending countless hours training students, professionals, and faculty members. I’ve also built several AI-driven applications for companies.
Throughout this journey, I’ve realized my strength lies in being a natural storyteller who can simplify complex topics based on the student’s level. Teaching students from diverse backgrounds has given me a strong intuitive sense of how to connect with each learner effectively.
