About Jean
I have two educational Master's degrees from Syracuse University and taught for 29 years before retiring. Most of my teaching has been in New York state, but I've also taught in California and Washington state.
I have missed working with students and learning about their likes, dislikes, strengths and how they best learn. I enjoy creating challenging but interesting lessons and working to help a person develop their individual skills. My favorite subjects to tutor are English anything and any level of history, including AP. However, I can tutor just about anything except high level math and physics!

I believe in using a many faceted approach to tutoring. I like to discover my student's strengths and teach to that using visual aides, guided reading, breakdown of tasks, etc. A typical lesson plan would include building on a students previous knowledge, reading and synthesizing information and learning to create and answer critical thinking and writing skills. Since I have taught many different high school grade levels and student with varying abilities, I'm able to tailor lessons on an individual basis.
