About Hugh
About Me
My name is Hugh, and I’m a first-year MSISS student at Trinity College Dublin. Having achieved 7 H1s in the 2026 Leaving Cert (including 99.5% in HL Maths), I know exactly what it takes to excel under current exam conditions.
I bring a structured, reliable, and patient approach to tutoring.
My goal is to make Higher Level Maths more approachable and to build confidence in my students. I run well-prepared, highly focused sessions to ensure my students get the grade they need and to maximize CAO points.

My Teaching Approach
I use a simple "I Teach, We Do, You Do" framework. I explain a concept with a fully worked example, we tackle a past paper problem together, and then you try one solo while I watch.
The focus is on SEC marking schemes; learning how to secure partial credit when you're stuck and how to lay out work so examiners can easily give you full marks. To keep sessions efficient, students send me their focus topics or problem questions 24 hours in advance so we can hit the ground running.
Lesson Format & Length
Length: 60 minutes.
Format: 10 minutes reviewing past homework/questions, 20 minutes breaking down core concepts and formulas, 20 minutes doing real exam questions, and 10 minutes covering common exam traps and setting practice work.
Qualifications
Academic Results: achieved 7 H1's in the 2026 Leaving Cert with 99.5% in Maths, 100% in Biology, 98% in Physics, 100% in French, 98% in Music, 97% in English, and 92% in Geography.
Background: 1st-year MSISS student at Trinity College Dublin (Management Science and Information Systems Studies).
Insight: Fresh, firsthand knowledge of the current exam layout, timing strategy, and marking schemes.
