About Melia
I am a high school junior who specializes in the humanities. I have experience with working with children and adults; my love of writing has been present since I was a child. I love storytelling, music, and theatre. I believe writing is such a great way to express our true humanity; as such, I want to help all students to find their writer's voice and reach their academic and personal potential.

I try to individualize my methods based on each learner's needs. One method I like to utilize is called Socratic Questioning. This form of instruction is based on a student's level of understanding and execution in a specific area of writing and reading. We hone in on this area and focus on asking questions based on what the student already knows; the end goal, however, is to progress to new knowledge of strategies.
Practice drills are essential and I try to make them as engaging as possible. Whether through games or by incorporating student interest, drills should keep the learning both effective and engaging.
I try to be as accommodating as possible so that my students can succeed in the way that fits them best. My typical students range from elementary-aged learners to high schoolers. I am flexible with the age-range and want to help as many people as possible reach their full potential.
