• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I’ve been drawn to music for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid in 2004, I would hum melodies and sing along to songs I loved, always trying to get better. In 2012, I finally got my first guitar, inspired by my love for rock music, especially Linkin Park. I dreamed of playing their riffs and performing on stage.
  
  I started learning through online tutorials and international musicians, experimenting and practicing endlessly. I even joined a class but left quickly because the teaching structure didn’t work for me. Over time, I taught myself, played with other musicians, and started my own band. Since 2016, I’ve been performing with my metal band Infestation, playing shows across India and earning 5 Best Guitarist Awards and 5 Best Band Awards. Music has always been more than sound for me, it’s emotion, energy, and life itself.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach, and why?

  My biggest motivation to teach comes from the struggles I faced learning guitar. In India, structured, high quality music education wasn’t easily available when I started. I wanted to change that and make learning simple, fun, and customized.
  
  I believe every student’s journey is unique: some want to play a couple of favorite songs after work, some are kids starting their first instrument, while others want to perform professionally. That’s why I created project based and personalized lessons, often using students’ favorite music as part of the curriculum.
  
  Since 2015, I’ve taught over 1,500 students, and their feedback has been consistent, they enjoy learning because it’s approachable and enjoyable. Performing across India and winning awards has given me a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed as a guitarist, and I bring that insight into my teaching.

• How does your work help society?

  Finding a genuine mentor in music is rare. I focus on giving honest guidance and 100 percent of my energy to help students discover and nurture their talent. Having been an aspiring kid, a working professional, and now a full time musician performing nationwide, I know how challenging the journey can be.
  
  Beyond just learning an instrument, music gives students confidence, discipline, and an outlet for stress. Over time, this creates a ripple effect, confident, creative people contribute to building a healthier, more inspired society.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of and why?

  Musically, I admire Jeff Loomis and Marty Friedman for their ability to create melodic yet complex music. Marty Friedman’s expressive playing feels like a unique language of its own.
  
  For work ethic, I look up to Elon Musk. His relentless drive inspires me to maximize my time and energy. I try to blend the creativity of my music idols with the focus of great entrepreneurs, which helps me grow as both a musician and a teacher. My time performing with a band all over India has also taught me resilience, teamwork, and leadership, which I pass on to my students.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Outside teaching, I’m a performer and songwriter. I play with my band Infestation, a death metal band with songs available on Spotify, and I enjoy writing and producing music. I’ve been touring with my band since 2016, and these experiences give me unique insights into performing and music as a career.
  
  I’m also an entrepreneur, running MyResorts.in, a resort and safari booking platform born from my passion for nature. It allows me to combine business with spending time outdoors. Apart from that, I’m a tech enthusiast, always curious about new gear and innovations. My world revolves around music, nature, and technology.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  I’m proud to say I’m entirely self taught. I never attended traditional classes but invested in paid online courses and learned directly from top YouTubers and world class metal guitarists like Megadeth’s Kiko Loureiro and Teemu Mäntysaari. Everything I know today comes from years of dedication, self study, and applying what I learned.
  
  Another moment I cherish is when I transitioned from being a bedroom guitarist to a recognized performer. After five years of intense practice, I finally stepped into the spotlight and earned a reputation in my city as one of the fastest guitarists. Along the way, I’ve won 5 Best Guitarist Awards and 5 Best Band Awards with my band. These milestones gave me confidence and a clear purpose, to inspire others through music.
