About Candance
I am a dedicated reading tutor and former classroom teacher specializing in reading support, literacy intervention and comprehension strategies for elementary and middle school students. I provide personalized, one-to-one tutoring for struggling readers, ESL/ELL students and neurodivergent learners, including those with ADHD or dyslexia-related challenges. Using a data-driven approach, my students have achieved measurable gains in reading fluency and comprehension, including double-digit growth within a single academic year. I work closely with students and parents to make reading feel accessible, meaningful and achievable--because strong literacy changes everything.

My lessons are fun for multiple types of learning styles because we use what you know and how you learn to build on what you need to learn by reading, writing and listening. Great reading skills are developed in small steps, like building something with Lego or Minecraft or similar. When it doesn't work or doesn't fit, we try another way until you build a strong structure that is easy for anyone to identify.
My lessons are interactive and my format is simple. First, I explain and model how to do the set activity. Next, we do it together to make sure you know how and feel comfortable with the skill. Then, you finish on your own while I stand by to help if you need it. If you've got the time, I've got the skill and the patience to work with you on your reading goals.
