About Melinda
I have tutored independently as well as with organizations such as Elite Home Tutoring and Tutor Doctor. My students find me friendly, animated, knowledgeable, and exceptionally supportive in helping them to attain their goals.
My course content merges logic, grammar, and rhetoric in a three-part cohesive approach as follows:
Developing one skills in logic allows for the building of sound arguments and the ability to recognize/refute unsound ones. A proper understanding and utilization of grammar enables sound delivery of the argument. Effective use of rhetoric ensures the argument is delivered with persuasion. Since argument and persuasion are foundational to all aspects of effective communication – academic, professional, as well as personal – mastery of these core disciplines is essential to success in virtually any endeavor, whether education, business, law, civil and public services, or politics. For those students wishing to better their essay-writing skills, their oral presentation skills, and/or their overall effectiveness and success in academia and/or professional pursuits, my tutoring services provide a distinct and outstanding foundation.

My name is Melinda and I am a Ph.D. student in English Literature at Claremont Graduate University; I currently possess both an M.A. in Humanities (with emphasis in Creative Writing) and an M.A. in English Literature. I excel at helping students learn how to enhance their reading, writing, comprehension, and public speaking skills in ways that will profoundly impact their effectiveness in both oral and written communication--including expository as well as creative writing. My unique approach is rooted in a classical foundation and integrates the disciplines of logic, grammar, and rhetoric in the way they were originally intended. This methodology ensures success for the student both within the academic environment and without.
