About Tai
How to sum me up in a small paragraph that will help you get to know me? Well English is one of my favourite subjects I do also enjoy History, Art, Drama music and Sociology. I am currently a student, studying to become a teacher even though I thought to myself I'm never stepping foot in a school again once I finished my GCSEs, clearly that opinion has changed though! I do work experience in a primary school so I aim to get extra experience in the education industry through tutoring. In my spare time I am a drummer in a band with my friends; I volunteer at the PDSA centre near my house because I love animals so you will probably hear about the kittens I own if animals crop up in conversation. I also create various types of artwork such as painting and pottery (I am very creative if you already couldn't tell) and look at structures under my microscope and do domestic science experiments (big science fan may I add). Hopefully these brief sentences have summarised my current goals in life and who I am to help you get an idea of what person you'll be spending an hour with. However, I'm a social person so you can learn more during our sessions I'm usually an open book :)

Whilst being in school I found that some lessons in all subjects were not as engaging as I'd want them to be, but with my tutoring sessions I aim to make them as engaging and exciting as possible to help you learn skills and build on skills you might already know. The first lesson usually consists of me getting to know the student, learning their strengths and weaknesses and understanding how they like to learn. This will then be followed by covering either a past paper, example question, examining model answers or a general exercise where I will gain a further understanding of what the student needs to focus on as these forms of learning will flag any strengths and weaknesses. Lessons will be catered to each individual student's strengths and weaknesses. Their input is incredibly important to me, therefore at the end of each lesson I will consult them for feedback on the lessons so I know how to improve lessons and ask where they lack confidence and what they would like to study in more depth; this is to keep lessons engaging and understanding for the student. We can go through homework or any unfinished schoolwork if the students want me to do so. I try to encourage and share praise throughout the lessons to instil confidence in the students, ensuring that they never feel pressured or like they can't ask for help to make learning more comfortable. Occasionally I may set tasks to do outside our sessions, but this will only be done if I feel the student needs more support or wants to be pushed further than what the session pushed them.
