About Janie
Piano keys feel like a familiar extension of my hands during a long day of teaching. I help people master posture and hand position while building sight reading confidence.
My 13 years of experience spans 381 students taught. I simplify chord voicing and music theory.
I also emphasize sight playing and scales and arpeggios. Hand independence is a priority. I enjoy teaching memorization techniques alongside jazz improvisation. You will find that dynamics and expression improve steadily under my guidance.

Soft melodies fill the room as we begin our work together. I create custom sheet music arrangements for songs students choose to keep things engaging for you. Having taught for 13 years, I know exactly how to pace these piano sessions. We might spend time on jazz theory or just focus on the flow of a piece.
It is quite helpful to have an accompanist right there at the keys with you. You can expect a conversational rhythm.
