About Jordan
Math does not come naturally to everyone. I know because I was one of those students who struggled early on. My freshman year of college, I tested into Algebra 2. Through extensive self-study and very helpful instructors, I ended up getting a 3.9 GPA. Because of my experience, I firmly believe that math is a skill that anyone can learn as long as they have a teacher who is willing to invest the time to explain it in a way the students understand. My job as an instructor will be to greatly shorten that learning curve. I will break down intimidating topics into much more digestible foundations using simple examples and in-depth explanations. This is how students build a deep understanding of the topics and, consequently, the confidence and desire to learn more.

I know what it feels like to struggle with school. I struggled with math early on but got much better through extensive self-teaching and the help of very capable instructors. This taught me the importance of being very patient with students and making sure that they understand the foundational concepts. Having this level of understanding is what gives students confidence and desire to learn more. My general approach is as follows:
- Identify where the student is struggling
- Give a brief verbal explanation of the concept
- Walk the student through some written numerical examples of the topic in question to
- Give the student a few numerical examples with progressing difficulty to reinforce the topic
- If the student gets an example wrong, take time to explain why and reinforce the basics with some questions
- Once the student understands the examples, start generalizing the results to help show the broader logic.
