About Serafina
I am a student of Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Maths and Physics) at the University of York. I love my subject as it demonstrates the interdisciplinary nature of modern science, and I am keen to inspire this interest in others through tutoring.
I have always been passionate about education, and I enjoy solving problems and finding different ways to teach a difficult concept. Occasionally, the pressure of a classroom environment and assessments can lead to a lack of confidence, and I would love to be able to support individuals to overcome this and gain more fluency in the subjects I enjoy.

For Maths and Physics, practice is the most important thing. For this reason, I believe that past paper and problem solving questions should form the basis of most lessons (if they are for GCSE/A Level). Completing these collaboratively and asking questions throughout to check a student's understanding will be the foundation of most lessons.
In addition to this, I am keen to include real-world connections to topic areas to provide context to learning and hopefully encourage greater interest in a deep understanding, rather than just remembering information for exams.
I have had experience working in a primary school in a voluntary teaching assistant role where children sometimes required one to one support, and have had previous experience mentoring younger students during my time at school. On top of this, I am also used to teaching large groups as I direct an improv troupe on top of leading weekly workshops teaching skills in improvisation.
I am currently studying Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Maths and Physics) and obtained A Levels in Physics, Maths, Chemistry and English Literature all with a grade of A*.
