About Jakub
Becoming an immigrant to the UK in my teens, I found myself completely transformed the way my brain was working - I found myself in an unknown new environment, where I was immersed in the English Language. I managed to go from not being able to understand the language to writing my dissertation in the field of Mechanical Engineering in just 6 years! The immersion is key here. I have come to discover the optimal way of learning the English language, and in fact learning anything, is to completely surround yourself by it. That's the approach I take with my students. I offer help with IELTS, ESOL preparation, flexibility and full professionalism.

I find it the most beneficial for the student to have a 1 hour lesson, followed by being given a set of exercises they can do in their own time. I have been tutoring English as a Second Language in the past. Having recently become TEFL qualified and with almost 2 years' experience as a supply teacher in a secondary school in Cardiff, I believe I now possess a considerable amount of experience and expertise to help students. My lessons have the following structure to optimise student development: Firstly, conducting an initial assessment to identify the student's preferred learning style is crucial, whether it's visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, or a combination, and adapting teaching methods accordingly. Secondly, developing lesson plans tailored to the student's individual needs is what's needed to reach their full potential, focusing on areas where they need the most support while building on their strengths. Another important point is setting personalised academic goals in collaboration with the student, based on their aspirations, challenges, and progress, to keep them motivated and focused. Incorporating the student's interests and hobbies into lessons whenever possible to make learning more enjoyable and relevant to their lives, so that's also something I normally incorporate. Lastly, maintaining open communication channels between the tutor, student, and parents/guardians to address any concerns, discuss progress, and ensure alignment on learning goals and strategies is the bedrock of the relationship.
