About Lydia
I have a degree in Marine Biology with Oceanography and have studied biology my entire life. I studied Maths, Biology, English and Media Studies during A levels, and excelled at all other subjects at Secondary School. I am a volunteer Scout Leader in my spare time where I am responsible for teaching sailing, kayaking and rowing to children aged 10-18, and have been babysitting since the age of 14 so I have experience in caring for and leading children. I am good with young adults and children alike, and can offer a babysitting and homework package which would involve collecting the child(ren) from school if needed and tutoring/helping with homework as necessary and babysitting until parents are home.

I approach each topic by using the national curriculum as a guideline to conduct more in depth research on the topics which I then use in my lessons. I look in to different methods of teaching, as oftentimes the method used in school or 6th form is catered to certain types of learning which may not be optimal for the individual. I believe that a mixture of methods are needed to solidify learning so visual, aural, verbal and physical methods are combined to cater to all learning types. Rather than simply teaching ‘what’, the methods and lesson structures aim to teach ‘why’ and ‘how’ so that the individual can understand and explain rather than recite words and phrases back as they’ve memorised them.
