About Sylviane
I'm Sylviane, I'm Belgian and I've been living in London for seven years.
French is my mother tongue, and I love teaching it at all levels and in various formats: holding topical conversations, the nitty-gritty grammatical foundations, helping writing essays or improving reading skills, honing one's pronounciation, and discovering a new culture through entertaining bilingual readings.
I also hold a master in Economics, a subject which I happily teach. I started teaching economics in 2009 as a teaching assistant to BSc students. I have since taught at GCSE, A-levels and foundation year, helping my students to build strong foundations in both microeconomics and macroeconomics. I like using articles from the Financial Times to illustrate my core teachings with examples drawn from the latest global economic developements.
I'm a patient and active listener. I adapt my tutoring sessions to each student's style, so they can learn steeply and progress rapidly. I am known for my ability to synthetise and simplify, making complex concepts understandable.
I am also a trained coach, so I know how to motivate my students and drive them towards the ambitious objectives they set for themselves.
Each of my tutoring sessions last a minimum of 1 hour and 30 minutes.
