About Addison

I am a committed piano tutor with 6 years of experience teaching learners ranging from school to college level. Over the years, I have successfully taught 200 to 250 students, helping them build strong technical skills and a real love for music. My teaching philosophy centers on patience, problem-solving, and diplomacy, ensuring every student gets guidance suited to their individual speed and learning approach. I break down complex ideas like hand coordination, note reading, and rhythm into simple, manageable steps so students never feel overwhelmed. I also give honest yet encouraging feedback, helping students stay motivated while clearly grasping their growth areas. Whether my students wish to play piano for personal joy, prepare for grade exams, or pursue it professionally, I tailor my method to match their goals. My aim is to build a supportive space where students feel confident to learn, practice, and grow as musicians.

My teaching method for Piano, Music Theory, and Sight Reading centers on building a solid base while keeping learning fun and pressure free. I believe every learner grows at their own speed, and my role is to guide them patiently through each phase of their musical path.

Patience lies at the core of my teaching. Learning piano means coordinating both hands, reading notes, and grasping rhythm simultaneously, which can feel overwhelming initially. I take time to simplify each idea into small steps and never push a student ahead before they are ready.

Problem-solving is a vital part of my sessions. Each learner meets different obstacles, whether finger placement, timing, or reading sheet music. I work closely with each student to pinpoint exactly where they struggle and find workable solutions suited to their learning approach.

Diplomacy plays a major role in how I communicate with learners. I always deliver feedback in a respectful and supportive way, balancing honesty about growth areas with recognition of achievements made. This keeps students motivated without feeling discouraged.

My sessions usually start with correct hand posture and finger drills, followed by note reading and rhythm practice. I introduce music theory basics early so learners grasp the structure behind their playing, not just memorizing key positions.

As learners advance, I add sight reading practice to build assurance in playing unfamiliar pieces, along with ear training to sharpen their sense of pitch and melody. For those drawn to performance, I also work on expression, dynamics, and stage presence.

I adjust my teaching methods to fit each student's goals, whether they wish to play for personal joy, pass grade exams, or pursue piano professionally. My overall aim is to build a supportive learning space where students feel comfortable making mistakes and confident in their growth.
