About Kedesha
Originally, I wanted to be a doctor. After college, I started to get sick a lot. So two years into my medical degree, I switched lanes and became a nurse. I've been a nurse for more than 20 years, and I do enjoy it, but three years ago, my illness showed its ugly head. I then decided to teach what I knew. I became an excellent tutor. I instruct students on helpful study habits and exam strategies to prepare for routine standardized tests and college entrance exams. homework assistance using specific curriculum and materials. I provided appropriate learning materials for each student, both in classrooms and at home, to provide educational support. I would weed out learning needs and implement fun and engaging learning activities to help students advance.

I am an excellent tutor. Armed with my teaching certificate and a nursing license, I tutor grades K through 12, specializing in English, language arts, and creative writing. I also tutor children with disabilities, taking effective approaches based on both personal experience and expert advice. I get them back on track with any missed subjects as well as ensure their success. I offer one-on-one tutoring as well as large groups. My teaching style is as follows:
1. Individualized Learning Plans: My tutoring sessions meet the specific needs of each child, addressing their unique challenges and strengths. This helps in catching up on missed subjects and staying on track with the curriculum.
2. Eliminate Distractions: I do have a child with ADHD who is also autistic. I homeschooled him, and he would get distracted by every little thing in his sight. Therefore, I created a focused learning environment by minimizing distractions. I would remove anything that would distract him and replace it with creative images and hands-on learning tools.
3. Establish Clear Expectations: I communicated both the child's and the parents' learning expectations clearly. I offer them structure by letting them know what they will be learning in each session and allocating appropriate time for each topic.
4. Positive Reinforcement: I implement positive reinforcement techniques, such as praise or rewards, as powerful motivators for children with special needs. I believe it helps them build confidence and maintain their interest in learning.
5. Multisensory Teaching: I use multiple senses while teaching. I know this sounds strange, but I utilize techniques like chunking information, organizing visually, and incorporating different senses to enhance understanding and retention.
6. Practical Teaching Strategies: I employ practical strategies like teaching by telling, showing, and breaking down learning into small steps. I believe these approaches accommodate different learning styles and help children with disabilities acquire new skills effectively.
I use every tool in my arsenal, as well as community assistance and research, to help children learn. While researching, I found ways to incorporate parents within my lesson plan so they too could learn how to approach their child's learning ability. With first-hand knowledge, I advocate for those with sickle cell disease. My blogging efforts are to raise awareness and advocate for individuals with sickle cell disease, as well as explore the use of different treatments and demonstrate a commitment to enhancing understanding and making a difference in healthcare.
