Laura was my colleague for many years at Romeoville High School. She is a first-class writing teacher and is excellent at teaching students how to improve their reading skills. She also understands how standardized tests work. Most importantly, she relates very well with her students.

My last year in high school, Ms. Schmitt really helped me a lot in English and other things we would talk about. Ms. Schmitt is very humble, respectful and honest. She is really good at what she does in her community or whatever the case may be and I would highly recommend her as a wonderful teacher/tutor.

As my freshman English teacher, Laura always inspired her students to go out and do great things. It never felt like an English lesson but more of an open-ended, mature discussion with a friend. Laura always welcomed her students with open arms with any issues whether they were academic or personal. I would highly recommend anyone to be a student of Laura's. Her teaching techniques and wonderful personality have all the makings of a success story.

As my 7th grade English teacher, Ms. Schmitt taught us heavy topics like bullying and mental health in a relatable manner. I remember I was going through a circumstance and she was the only teacher who I knew I could trust to tell anything to. I started working with Laura about 20 years ago. Laura taught English, and I taught foreign language, so, many times we had the same students. Students often talk about their teachers. When they would talk about her, it was always that she would push them academically to achieve their goals; she would not let them settle for less.
She is the kind of teacher we need more of in the field. I was fortunate enough to work with her for ten years.

Laura is an amazing teacher. She has helped me proof read papers, given me suggestions on changes I need to make as well as giving great advice. She is not only an amazing teacher but a great friend as well. I was never the greatest in English/literature class but with her help I succeed.

Laura was my teacher about 10 years ago now. She was an amazing teacher back then and still is. She was always there to help you and made sure you never failed at understanding things. She would it explain it in multiple ways until you got the understanding. I am now in college and if I needed help she would definitely be my go to. She is so easy going and just an overall awesome person who always puts her students before herself.

When I was the English Dept. Chair at Romeoville H.S., Laura was the first teacher that I hired. We worked together for five years until I retired in 2004. She was always cooperative and responsive to room and curriculum changes. She knew her subject and worked well with students and fellow faculty members.

Laura is an AMAZING educator who genuinely cares for her students! In her class, you never feel like you are one of the many because she makes an effort to make that connection with you. In my opinion, that is essential to someone's successful education. She was my teacher over 10 years ago and I will never forget her. The world needs more unforgettable educators like her.

Laura/ Mrs.Mau is a fantastic teacher. She was my teacher 2 or 3 seperate times while I was in highschool, and I loved her! Not only is it her goal to teach her students all that she can but she also gets to know them personally. If a student ever looked like they were down or something was wrong Laura always is there for them to talk to. Also she was always extremely helpful if you needed help with whatever the assignment was. She does more than was is in her job description and she is fantastic at what she does !
