About Stephen
I have been a teacher for ten years. I taught English as a Second Language in Tianjin, China, for four and a half years and for five and a half years in the Queensland public school system. I have taught one-on-one and classes up to 20 students. Through my teaching and support I have enabled students to achieve passing grades or better in all my classes.

I use a variety of teaching methods including direct instruction, discovery learning and guided research. I include activities in my lessons, like games or focused activities that help keep my lessons fresh and interesting. In general, my lessons move from direct instruction with lots of modeling, scaffolding and examples, then guided practice and finally independent practice. This methodology ensures a high level of success for all students. I believe every student can learn and have success, regardless of their background or previous life experience.

Details
The duration of the lesson depends on the age and level of experience of the student. For example, for very young student (for exmample, 5 years old) I would recommend half-hour lessons to begin with.
