About Samuel
Spanish is my mother tongue. I was born and raised in Madrid, Spain. Dutch is my second language. I studied Linguistics and Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam, and will soon complete a Research-Master there. I love languages and I like sharing my knowledge with others. I have experience in translating and teaching.

I know from experience that people learn a language in very different ways. While some like to understand and apply grammar and written language quickly, others think much more intuitively and learn mainly from imitating the spoken language. My teaching method therefore depends on your preference, background and goals: I guide and structure your own development.
If you want to learn Spanish professionally, for your job or to be able to translate, we'll cover the details of the language carefully. And if you mainly want to use Spanish in daily situations, we will work on your vocabulary and speech in a very focused manner.
The easiest way to learn Spanish is to build a personal relationship with it. And for that purpose, not only your travels and love stories matter, but also everything you discover and experience in this beautiful language. That is why culture is a fundamental part of my method. Spanish and Latin-American films, literature, history, politics… I am happy to give you material and tips so that you can continue to relate to the language and culture outside of class. This will also make our conversations more substantive and fun.
