About Cross
Hello! My name is Sandra Cross and I have been teaching for more than 20 years. I hold a BA in English, with a minor in French, and a BEd in Secondary Education from the University of Calgary.
Apart from English, I love sewing and the arts, and have also taught both of these subjects. I try to inspire my students to be their best selves and amazing humans, by teaching with compassion and kindness - and a little bit of humour.

As a classroom teacher, I hold a BA in English with a minor in French and a BEd in Secondary Education. I was also a marker for Grade 9 PATs and helped develop questions for upcoming exams. I believe this gave me an enhanced insight into ELA curriculum standards.
I have experience in teaching middle and high school English (Grades 7-12); however, I am willing to help with all grades.
I believe that understanding basics like grammar and vocabulary are very important in building reading and writing skills and use a variety of tools to build these.
I believe in creating a positive space for learning, that helps to develop self-confidence in students. I use a combination of methods and means to reach students' goals.
I am looking forward to helping you achieve these goals, and have fun doing it!
