About Timothy
I have over five years’ experience in individual support and two years’ experience as an education access worker at TasTafe. I am blessed to support learners from unique circumstances, their strengths enhancing their capabilities in ways that aren’t formally recognized in conventional education. I became inspired by the consistent efforts and fortitude of the learners in their determined pursuit of their occupation and career goals. My interests are reducing barriers to education, improvements in assistive technology, and advocating for equitable access in Vocational Education and Training. Learning is an active process. Repetition and consistent effort culminate in gaining knowledge and skills. Traditional approaches to study emphasize focus on final outcomes over the learning process. Combined with a lockstep curriculum and lack of individualized feedback, learners can feel that any sort of formal learning is one strike and you’re out. Encouraging learners to explore learning styles, reflect on progress, provide feedback on lesson plans builds resilience. I aim for learners to adopt a growth mindset to their learning and recognize the potential of their capacity to learn regardless of prior experiences with formalized learning. I will strive to be your guide on the side, not a sage on the stage.

I support secondary school students (Years 7–12) and adult learners in VET and Higher Learning studies. I focus on building capacity and practical academic skills. Lessons are scaffolded to break complex concepts into manageable steps, with explicit modelling before guided and independent practice. I tailor learning to the student’s current capability, using personalized learning plans that align with Victorian curriculum expectations and AQF outcomes.
I encourage divergent thinking in reading, writing, and analysis, assisting students to consider multiple interpretations, develop original responses, and strengthen reasoning through reflection. Sessions integrate revision strategies, exam/coursework relevant lesson plans, and targeted feedback to promote measurable success.
I have experience supporting learners with academic anxiety, neurodivergence, and additional learning needs. Using clear routines, flexible pacing, and practical regulation strategies aligned with Victorian Personal and Social Capability. I have assisted students to use accessibility tools and educational software, troubleshooting technology and guiding independent study skills. I have worked as a note taker for both students who are blind and Deaf students.
Lessons are suitable for: • Years 7–12 English • VCE English • Adult learners in VET or Higher Learning
Qualifications • Diploma of Applied Health and Community Support • Language, Literacy and Numeracy Tutor Skill Set • Certificate III in Individual Support
Experience • 2 years supporting VET/ higher learning students with additional learning needs • Assist with both theory and practical coursework • Experience across diverse learner backgrounds and industry sectors.
Review
All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the students of Timothy.
Perfect! Tim was organised and well prepared for my child's 1st lesson. He was friendly, patient and very supportive during the lesson. Great to receive lesson summary notes after class to reinforce concepts discussed during class. Thank you Tim!
- Nathan has excellent non-linear thinking, his capacity for divergent thinking and generating ideas is complemented by his capacity to recognise patterns in information that may seem unrelated to others.Timothy's response :
Nathan now has to work on and strengthen his convergent thinking. Creating a logical process to narrow down the raging river of ideas into a single, best solution.
Memory retention strategies such as external tools, flash cards, environmental cues and habit stacking will help reduce cognitive overload.

Timothy has helped me immensely with my english. i have major learning difficulties and dyslexia and he was very patient and helpful.
English teachers are literally a dime a dozen. But not all of them can match their professional skill with empathy and commitment. Timothy is one of the rare ones who can.
Tim is attending the training in Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment with me at RMIT. Tim has been very helpful in sourcing information. He has provided useful feedback and guidance on finding resources and information on professional development opportunities and ways to source employment opportunities online.
