    Korean is my native language.
I was born in South Korea and grew up in the capital Seoul since I was 4 years old.
Of course, it is no exaggeration to say that studying a language is endless.
I keep researching and trying to find various materials to help students understand better.

The historical and symbolic representative of the Korean language is King Sejong , who created the Korean alphabet(Hangeul). Before 1446, Korea borrowed Chinese characters and used them. But Chinese characters require a considerable amount of time to learn. So, Mainly nobility could write and read Chinese characters.

The working class, such as farmers and fishermen, could not write and read because they did not have time. King Sejong felt sorry for this and created characters(Hangeul) that all people could write and learn easily.

It's a culture that I find interesting. There are many different cultures, but let's take one example. Among them are food culture and etiquette.

For example, table etiquette differs from country to country.
When you're invited to a friend's house for dinner, it's not polite in Korea to leave you served food. Because your friend will think you left the food because it is tasteless. In Greece you have to leave your food. Otherwise your Greek friend will think you haven't given enough food. You can see completely different and interesting etiquette and culture in the same situation. I think it is important to learn etiquette and culture along with the language.

Currently, K-wave (K-POP, K-drama) is spreading all over the world.
For example, BTS' music is popular in many countries, and the Korean drama Squid Game was also popular, so many people are more interested in Korean culture and language.

Being able to speak Korean can accurately understand the lyrics of their favorite music and the contents of dramas, and it is also a great help in understanding Korean culture. It can be a more meaningful time when traveling in Korea. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to get a job in Korea.

Korean pronunciation and word order may seem unfamiliar and difficult to Europeans. However, because Hangeul is a systematic language with precise rules, people can feel more interest and fun as they learn it.

People who like to study languages can become more interested in studying Korean if they learn the structure of Hangeul systematically. For those who like K-POP or K-drama, I think there will be nothing better than learning the rules of Hangeul step by step and developing to understand lyrics and dramas.

I couldn't speak English before I met my husband. In the beginning, we used Google Translate to communicate. One day I wanted to tell him to relax and good night via email, so I used Google and emailed him. But he was shocked when he received my email. Because the sentence I sent was "Rest in peace".

I often tell this anecdote to students in class. Each time, students are amused and realize how much the meaning of a word can change depending on how it is spoken and differences in culture.

In general, Koreans cannot take long vacations. The average vacation period for people is about 3 to 5 days in the summer. So when I lived in Korea, I traveled to Asia close to Korea. I traveled to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and the Philippines. Besides that, other countries I visited were Denmark, Greece, England and Turkey.

Compared to Europeans, my travels may be shabby, but as I traveled to those countries, I could see that even Asian countries have large cultural differences, and I felt that there are many differences even among European countries.

First, I like meeting people and talking about culture. Because meeting and talking with various people improves each other's understanding and allows us to learn a lot from each other.

Second, there are many Korean adoptees in Sweden. My husband is also a Korean adoptee. So I know how much adoptees want to learn Korean, how much they want to learn about Korean culture, and how much they want to find their birth mothers and fathers. So I want to help Korean adoptees.

    Third, I like helping people.
Currently, compared to other languages, there are not many Korean teachers in Sweden. I want to help people who want to learn Korean.
