I am a University graduate with a degree in Psychology and Linguistics as well as an Honours degree in Psychology. I am TESOL certified. I have also designed an effective reading course teaching students to read from 2 years and up.

When learning a language other than ones mother tongue it is imperative that the student has ample opportunity to produce the language being taught thus causing myself as the teacher to become a ‘guide for the adoption of information’ as opposed to merely a ‘giver of information’. This is conducive in producing student-learning outcomes, independence as well as confidence that furthermore leads to a good command of the language being learnt. Literature also supports the notion of active learning being more effective within a classroom and because learning is a lifelong process I believe that over and above actual course content, educators such as myself ought to strive to cultivate critical thinking abilities and active engagement that may not only assist greatly within the acquisition of language but in all spheres of life and across time. Another important facet to learning pertains to the notion of simplicity as well as practicality, therefore my teaching employs these two concepts in order to create relatability within the students in terms of life matters. Once students start to relate, connections and associations are made with concepts that are taught within class thus, establishing a good foundation in memory and recall skills which makes learning more meaningful and understandable
