About Rebecca

Hello! I'm Rebecca, a TEFL-certified English tutor from South Africa with a BA in Linguistics and Psychology. I’m currently studying counseling, which helps me adapt my teaching to each student’s unique needs. I’ve tutored school subjects like English, Maths, and Afrikaans, and volunteered as an academic literacy tutor. I also have experience proofreading university papers and was on the Dean’s Merit List. My background includes teaching in a corporate dive school, where I worked with learners of all ages and developed strong formal communication skills. I offer student-centered lessons tailored to your goals, whether you’re working on academic English, school-level support, or conversational fluency. My lessons are calm, supportive, and focused on helping you grow in confidence and ability.

About the lesson

My lessons are student-centered and tailored to each learner’s individual goals and needs. I believe that no two students learn in exactly the same way, and my approach reflects that. With a BA in Linguistics and Psychology, a Level 5 TEFL certificate, and current studies in counselling, I bring both academic expertise and a strong understanding of people into my teaching. This allows me to adapt my lessons in a way that supports not just language development, but also confidence and motivation.

I offer English lessons in three key areas:

- Academic English, especially in humanities subjects such as essay writing, reading comprehension, and critical thinking

- School-level English for children and teens who need structured support

- Conversational English for adults looking to improve fluency for travel, work, or everyday life

I’m a native English speaker and teach in English only. My professional experience in a corporate setting has also refined my use of formal English, which is helpful for students needing polished writing or workplace communication skills.

Students can expect a calm, encouraging learning environment where they’re free to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn at their own pace. My lessons are best suited for high school and university students, as well as adults aiming to strengthen their academic or general English skills.
