About Sam
I have previously worked as an Assistant Language Teacher at the Sano International School in Japan. This experience has enabled me to develop my decision-making and problem-solving skills. My responsibilities consisted of helping children who need extra support, participating in extra-curricular activities with pupils, making sure that the classroom is fully ready for the students, keeping records up to date and complete, supervising group activities, such as outings and sporting events. I have had to cover and quickly adapt lesson plans in order to meet the children’s needs. Furthermore, I recognise the importance of providing suitable scaffolding and differentiation in order to support pupils in overcoming any barriers to learning.
I am currently studying for a Bachelor of Arts, Honours degree in Childhood Studies at the Anglia Ruskin University. Currently studying for my level 5 Early childhood Studies. My main focus is on different methodologies for teaching children and the importance of children’s rights and wellbeing. The course also includes assessing child health, nutrition and family needs and engaging children in purposeful learning activities and play.
In addition, I possess a 120 hour TEFL Certificate from the TEFL – UK has given me with the ability to create lessons for a variety of levels from pre to intermediate to advance. It has also equipped me in material and resource creation, English grammar, essential language techniques and analysis and teaching of the language. I also firmly believe that building good relationships with pupils can increase their sense of motivation and engagement with the learning.
