About Addison
I view the studio crit as a vital space to meet peer-to-peer and unpack large ideas across architecture, art, and design. After completing my bachelors in architecture from the University of Minnesota in 2016 and my MFA from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2017, I have continued to supplement my education as a curious traveler and explorer of the creative world.
I thrive in the dialogue surrounding creative work. As a student, I frequently supported peers navigating critical feedback on their projects, especially for my peers whose first language was not English. From my time in school, and from my personal travels, I draw from a deep reservoir of reference material and understanding for creative practice. I can help you articulate your concepts clearly because I know firsthand the technical work and social context that goes into presenting them.
I have put myself through enough crits to know how to calibrate my feedback to match your comfort level and specific goals. I have experienced the full gamut of critique styles: from soft, exploratory conversations meant to gently support nascent ideas, to intense, high-stakes reviews where months of work are systematically torn apart under stress. I once had a professor quite literally rip apart a student's final model in their final review. I know the benefits to either style and will work with you to best suit your expectations.
My personal research is heavily anchored in material culture and exhibition spaces. I spend a great amount of my time seeking out major cultural institutions and hidden gems on my travels to examine how these spaces perform architecturally. My favorite architecture firm is Herzog + de Meuron because of the graceful way they balance tectonic forces and cultural weight through rigorous, clear architectural ideas.
With my international perspective on art and design (particularly across the English and Spanish-speaking worlds), I want to help students and young professionals translate their visual intuition into precise, commanding language. My goal is to ensure that when you prepare for your final academic review, meet with a gallery director, or connect with a new client, your presentation is as intentional and sharply crafted as the work itself.

I help designers, students, and studios distill complex spatial ideas and artistic concepts into rigorous, compelling English.
Like a good studio crit, my coaching is a collaborative space where we draw out your design logic, challenge ambiguity, and identify the precise English vocabulary that captures what your work is actually doing.
With a Scottish MFA and a background in professional art fabrication and design, I speak the language of the studio natively. Having personal connections to international creative sectors across the UN, the UK, Canada, and Mexico, I ensure your concepts, portfolios, and statements demonstrate a clear and authentic voice for international juries, publishers, and clients.
