About Lucy
I always remember studying English at school, because I never felt like my writing was good enough. Each time I had to analyse a character or literary devices, I was terrified of 'getting it wrong'. I was lucky enough to have a wonderful teacher in my GCSE years, who took the time to support and encourage me. She helped me realise that I was more than capable of doing well, and gave me the confidence to communicate my ideas all the way through school and university. I want to help others have the same realisation, regardless of their starting ability or future goals.

Everyone has a different relationship with school, and experiences different challenges in English and literacy. My sessions might involve reading assigned texts and discussing in an informal way, to aid active comprehension and critical thinking. Some students might benefit from reviewing their existing work in order to build written communication skills. Having graduated with a first-class honours degree in political science and philosophy, I have insight into what today's examiners look for in essays, how to analyse complex texts and effectively communicate ideas. My sessions can be tailored to fit the needs of each student, and I am more than willing to accommodate requests and busy schedules.
