Hi there, I am a trainee teacher doing a PGCE in Religious Education at Kings College London, training towards being a secondary school teacher. I attended Warwick University where I studied Philosophy for my Bachelors and Masters Degrees. I have tutored online for six months now, helping people through their GCSE and A-level exams.

At school I was always fascinated with philosophy, taking Religious Education to A- Level. I saw the subject as a way to understand the world and really enjoyed engaging with the questions it brought up regarding Ethics, God and life after death, believing that there were real answers to be found. This approach, I believe, helped a lot when it came to exams. In trying to come up with my own answers I developed a good working understanding of the topics covered and a confidence when answering questions different to those which had come up in revision.

My focus is on helping to develop an ability to engage confidently with evaluative questions as well as address any holes in knowledge that may exist. I hope to encourage tutees to develop their own opinion on a topic, then help tutees to structure their answers to conform to mark schemes. Exams are coming up and I hope to structure my tutorials as revision sessions, establishing early on what areas we think need to be worked on, then covering each through a discussion followed by a mock exam style question on the topic covered which I will mark before the next session, to be gone over. After this, I will run through mock exam style questions covering the whole syllabus and addressing any further areas in need of revisiting that answering mock questions may uncover.
