About Grace
I am a third year English and Related Literature student, studying at the University of York. I am very passionate about my subject, reading and creative writing, and I enjoy sharing this passion with others. I am a friendly and understanding individual, who overcame my own struggles with certain subjects at school, so strongly recognise the impact a supportive tutor can have on both a students grades, but also confidence.

I have much experience working with young people - through volunteering with the Scout association as a young leader, I developed the skills to engagingly teach children about a variety of topics. Following this, I completed work experience in a local primary school, where I taught creative writing, reading and spelling lessons. I then offered GCSE level tuition to English students at my high school, where I was able to significantly improve the students grades, and understanding of the exams. I offer 30 minute to 2 hour lessons, using a variety of techniques, dependent on the age of student, their capabilities and initial understanding, and their individual strengths. My teaching methodology includes, worksheets, joint close reading, quote bank assistance, periodic quizzes to assess whether my approach is benefiting their understanding (but in a fun, engaging and relaxed manner), and assistance with practice questions and examples. I can tutor in primary level English (reading, spelling, creative writing etc), KS3, GCSE and A-Level English.
