About Maya
I am a final year Mathematical Science student at Stellenbosch University and next year I will be doing my honours in Financial Risk Management. I achieved above 90% for Mathematics in matric and 99% in grade 11 so, along with majoring in Mathematics at a university level, I am highly qualified. I have tutored many students of all ages and have helped many achieve distinctions.

As every student is different and learns in their own way, I strongly believe in finding what learning technique works best for each individual. Teaching to the student's strengths and finding a style that works for them is incredibly important in providing useful lessons. As a very patient and flexible person, I have been able to tutor over 20 students of all ages and various skill levels. My lessons typically range from 1 to 2 hours in length and are presented in English. I am also familiar with both the IEB and CAPS syllabus. Before beginning any lessons, I find it helpful to have a "meeting" either online or in person to get to know the other person a bit as this will influence the learning style in which I teach. We can chat about what weakness the student is finding in their work or what they would like to improve on. After this, we can set up a schedule for lessons. I have found that after a few lessons, most of my students need fewer weekly lessons and before important tests request recap lessons.
I also give all my students my cell number to contact me with any questions in between lessons.
I am offering both online lessons via any platform as well as in-person lessons in Stellenbosch and surrounding areas.
