About Hatty
I have completed an 188 hour certificate in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). I hold a degree in political science from a large Canadian university and have studied Russian, French and Spanish at an academic level.
Having worked with both kids and adults from beginner to advanced, I understand how difficult it is to learn a new language and to feel comfortable and confidence speaking it. I strive to build a supportive and calm environment where students are willing to take risks and be creative.
I am also a watercolor artist and try to encourage creativity in my lessons.

In lessons I use a variety of techniques including games, props, grammar exercises, conversational prompts and reading activities. Regardless of the student's level and age, I always try to build a personal connection by taking time for conversation about daily life. I enjoy conversations about simple pleasures like food, nature and the weather.
