About Thomas
Hi my name is Tom. Im an English tutor who studies English Literature and Creative Writing at John Moores University. I have always wanted to tutor individuals due to English completely transforming my mindset such as boosting my creativity, heightening my confidence, and granting me a powerful outlet for self-expression. Ironically, I once struggled with English at school and found the pressure in classrooms overwhelming. Therefore, this experience shaped my approach as I understand how discouraging it can feel, and I want to offer students a more personal, relaxed space to grow. I aim to help them discover the magic in literature such as the hidden messages, emotions, and deeper meanings often missed in traditional lessons. Moreover, English is more than just a subject; it's a life skill. Its influence and language presence is highly recognised across areas like business, law, politics, and media, where the ability to communicate clearly, argue effectively, and think creatively is essential. Through tailored, compassionate tutoring, I want to help students connect with English in a way that empowers them—both academically and personally. Together, we’ll work towards building skills, confidence, and success through an array of methods. Let’s achieve your goals as a team!

Through my tutoring sessions, I aim to construct a calm, supportive environment where students are able to feel confident and learn without pressure which is often present throughout modern day classrooms. I focus on clear, detailed analysis and teach the proven techniques that helped me achieve 2 A*s in English at GCSE. For my lessons, I tailor them to each student’s needs, aiming to strengthen their understanding, boost their confidence, and develop their skills step by step. Whether preparing for exams or improving general ability, I’m committed to helping every student reach their full potential and truly enjoy English.
