About Maria
I’ve been tutoring for many years and I’m now a university law student. I have never achieved anything below an A in GSCE and A-Level, scoring 48/50 on my coursework. I’ve worked with students aged 7–18, helping them build confidence, improve their writing, and understand texts more deeply. My teaching style is patient, structured, and tailored to each student’s needs. I specialise in essay writing, analysis, and exam technique, and many of my students have gone on to achieve top grades. I’m happy to support with GCSE English Language & Literature, homework, revision strategies, and long-term academic mentoring.

For English Literature, my lessons are designed to build a deep and confident understanding of your texts. We will go through each novel, play, or poem in detail, analysing themes, characters, language, structure, and writer’s craft. I also incorporate theory lessons to help you understand the historical, social, and literary context in which the text was written, as this is essential for achieving higher marks. We will look at commentaries and critical perspectives to strengthen your interpretations and help you think like an examiner. Once you’ve developed a strong grasp of the material, we will move on to exam-style questions and full past papers. I will guide you through how to plan essays, structure arguments, and write high-level analytical paragraphs that meet the top-band criteria. Every lesson is completely tailored to where you are academically. Some areas can be sped up while others may need more time, so I always start by assessing your current level and then building a personalised plan to help you progress efficiently and confidently.
