About Duarte
I am originally from Portugal but have been living in London for seven years. I studied languages and literature at the University of Lisbon and moved to Paris shortly after to train as an actor at the prestigious theatre school Cours Florent. Upon completing my studies in Paris, I moved to London to further my acting training and did a post-graduate acting course at the Giles Foreman Centre for Acting.
To support myself in between acting work, I have had a string of different jobs, most recently in House Restaurant at the National Theatre where I exercised positions of head bartender and restaurant supervisor.
During lockdown I decided to make use of my language skills and train as an English teacher at International House Lisbon, having just recently obtained my CELTA qualification.

Throughout my working career I have obtained different skills that I believe lend themselves to the practise of English teaching. My acting training and experience have given me the faculties to be an excellent communicator, able to quickly establish rapport and capture the students attention. My artistic vein has also enabled me to be innovative in my teaching and, throughout my training during CELTA, I often received praise for the creativity in my lessons.
