About Anna
As a native Mandarin speaker with a Master’s degree in Chinese-English Translating and Interpreting, I bring a high level of academic rigour and linguistic precision to my teaching. My foundation in language education runs deep; during my undergraduate studies, I completed extensive coursework in Chinese language and literature, phonetics, and advanced grammar. This is also when I began my teaching career, gaining valuable hands-on experience as a part-time English and Mandarin tutor.
Beyond my academic qualifications, I am a deeply passionate language learner myself. Fluently speaking four languages—Chinese, English, Russian, and Japanese—has provided me with invaluable, firsthand insight into the mechanics of language acquisition and the common hurdles students face along the way.
I firmly believe that every student possesses unique talents, strengths, and learning habits. Because of this, I strongly oppose rigid, "one-size-fits-all" teaching methods that can stifle a learner's progress. My greatest strength as a tutor lies in breaking away from traditional, restrictive frameworks. Instead, I specialise in designing fully customised, student-centric courses that are driven by your personal interests and individual characteristics.

My teaching approach is strictly tailored to each individual student. Before diving in, I take the time to understand your previous language-learning experiences and assess your unique strengths, weaknesses, and potential. From there, we will build a customised roadmap with clear short-term and long-term goals.
I strongly emphasise the practical application of the language. My classes are highly interactive, incorporating plenty of real-world practice and rich examples to ensure you truly understand how the language is used in daily life. To keep our lessons engaging and fun, I carefully select learning materials that align directly with your personal habits and interests, ensuring you stay motivated every step of the way!
Typical Length of a Lesson
Each standard lesson is 60 minutes long—the optimal amount of time to maintain high focus and maximise knowledge retention.

I have extensive experience teaching both Chinese and English. Just as importantly, I bring my own rich background as a dedicated language learner. Speaking four languages (Chinese, English, Russian, and Japanese) has given me firsthand insight into the struggles and triumphs of mastering a new language. I am naturally patient, caring, and encouraging, and I am fully committed to providing you with a highly positive and supportive learning environment.
