About Xiou
Hello! I’m a native Mandarin speaker with a passion for languages, cultural exchange, and helping students achieve their learning goals.
Having lived in China for over 20 years, Japan for 6 years, and London for 11 years, I have developed a deep understanding of different cultures and communication styles. I speak Mandarin natively and Japanese at a business level, which allows me to support learners from various backgrounds and understand the challenges that come with learning a new language.
My teaching approach is student-centred and goal-oriented. Whether you are learning Mandarin for travel, work, exams, business, or personal interest, I will tailor lessons to your individual needs and learning style. I believe language learning should be practical, engaging, and enjoyable, so I focus on building confidence through real-life communication while also helping students develop a solid foundation in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
More than anything, I genuinely care about my students’ progress. I am patient, supportive, and committed to helping you reach your goals step by step. I enjoy meeting people from different cultures and creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
