About Rohan

Namaste — I'm Rohan, a Trinity College London-certified piano educator with over 10 years of teaching experience. I specialise in online piano lessons for NRI families and global learners across the USA, UK, Canada, UAE, Singapore, Australia, and Europe — with flexible weekend and evening slots designed around your time zone.

Over 200 students worldwide have completed structured piano programmes with me. I prepare learners for every major international graded examination — Trinity College London, ABRSM, Rock School, and London College of Music — while also nurturing those who simply want to play their favourite Bollywood, Western pop, classical, or jazz pieces for joy.

What makes my online lessons different: I built and refined the LEAP Method (Learn · Enjoy · Accelerate · Perform), an outcome-oriented curriculum based on direct feedback from 200+ global students. Lessons are conducted on a professional broadcast-quality streaming setup — multi-camera angles, virtual keyboard overlay, and high-fidelity audio interface — so your child sees every fingering, every key, every dynamic exactly as if I were sitting beside them.

I was personally mentored by Mr. Jyotiska Dasgupta (Manager, Eastern India — Trinity College London) and completed Trinity Grade certifications in Piano, Electronic Keyboard, and Theory of Music with Distinction. I have performed as a concert pianist, been recognised by leading figures in India's music education industry, and our teaching methodology has been featured in Google News.

Whether your child is preparing for their first Trinity Initial exam in London, you're an adult NRI in New Jersey rediscovering piano on weekends, or a parent in Dubai looking for a structured, English-medium music programme — I'd love to design a learning journey that fits your family.

How online piano lessons with me actually work — the LEAP Method

I designed the LEAP Method (Learn · Enjoy · Accelerate · Perform) after analysing the progression patterns of 200+ students across 8+ countries. It is built around one principle: NRI and global students don't have time to waste on slow, retention-driven curricula. Every session is engineered to deliver a measurable musical outcome.

Studio & technology — what makes online genuinely work: My teaching setup is broadcast-quality. Multiple synchronised cameras give you a top-down view of the keyboard, a side view of hand posture, and a face view of me explaining concepts. A virtual on-screen keyboard mirrors every key I press in real time — so even a 6-year-old in California can follow along precisely. Studio-grade audio captures every nuance of dynamics and pedalling. Most students tell me within their first lesson that this is the closest online music education has felt to in-person.

Every lesson is structured around four pillars:
1. Theory & Notation — Western staff notation, key signatures, time signatures, dynamics, and musical vocabulary. We build the language first.
2. Scales & Chords — In-depth study of major, minor (natural / melodic / harmonic), and pentatonic scales; chord voicings, inversions, and progressions; all aligned with the Trinity Graded Examination curriculum and ABRSM requirements.
3. Technique (Finger Lessons) — Daily finger-strength and dexterity work using Hanon and Czerny exercises. This is what separates a player from a pianist.
4. Repertoire & Performance — Western Classical, Contemporary, Jazz, and Bollywood. Students choose pieces they love. We also weave in sight reading, aural skills, improvisation, and ear training to build a complete musician.

Exam preparation: We actively prepare students for graded examinations by Trinity College London, ABRSM, Rock School, and London College of Music — from Initial Grade through to Grade 8 and Diploma level. Multiple students have cleared their grades with Distinction.

Designed for: Complete beginners (kids ages 5+ and adults), intermediate players who feel stuck, advanced learners targeting Grade 5–8 or Diploma, and exam aspirants seeking distinctions. Lessons are available in English, Hindi, and Bengali.

NRI-friendly time zones: Saturday and Sunday slots specifically reserved for families in USA (PST/EST), UK (GMT), Canada (PST/EST), UAE (GST), and Singapore (SGT). Weekday evenings IST also available.

After every class, students and parents receive structured practice notes via email — so even families with busy schedules can track exactly what was covered and what to practise.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

I was raised in a musical family. My father used to play the Keyboard and my mother was into Hawaiian guitar. So, I was exposed to music at a very early age and my father has been a constant inspiration for me. My musical journey started by exploring Indian Classical and Contemporary music on the keyboard and later I got heavily influenced by Western Classical and Jazz on the piano under the tutelage of Mr. Jyotiska Dasgupta. After a journey of almost 10 years of dedicated learning and practice I realised that I should take up my passion as my career and guide others to enter the magical world of music.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

I must admit that I was privileged to get supportive parents who always inspired me to follow my passion. I was fortunate enough to be mentored by renowned musicians who not only helped me to develop my musical skills but also imbibed it into my veins. I took up several graded music examinations for piano, keyboard and theory of music from Trinity Guildhall, London and realised that a systematic approach is crucial for an overall development. I came up with my own innovative way of teaching inspired from the structured syllabus of Trinity Guildhall and Royal School of Music, London as well as from the courses by Alfred, Leila Fletcher, John Thompson and many more.
  • How does your work help society?

Music lessons mean success. Adults who took music lessons when they were kids get into the most competitive programs, land top jobs and are healthier emotionally. 75% of Silicon Valley CEOs took music lessons as a child. Adults who play the piano are less likely to experience anxiety, loneliness or depression. So as a piano/keyboard instructor It gives me immense pleasure to introduce my students, irrespective of their age to the piano/keyboard and monitor their progressive journey from a beginner to an advanced level.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

All my mentors and other fellow musicians have constantly inspired me to bring the best out of me. My performance and composition style draws inspiration from the works of Yanni, Richard Clayderman and Yiruma to name a few as each time I am exposed to their music it heals my mind and soul.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

I draw inspiration from nature so I really enjoy travelling and exploring new places. I love listening to world music, studying musical history and occasionally composing melodies on the piano.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

Numbers and Musical Notes intrigued me from my childhood days. Most of the people I came across asked me to choose between either of them as my career but deep down my love and dedication for both of them rewarded me with a career as a piano instructor as well as a data engineer. Just follow your passion even if it's for two diverse domains, work hard and you will definitely be successful!!
