About Joakim
Solid and lengthy experience in teaching instrument technique, improvisation and sight reading. From beginner level all the way to highly advanced students, with a focus either on classical or jazz. I've been active as a freelance performer in a variety of genres all over the world, and taught both privately and at a university level.

Bachelors degree from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm
Masters degree from University of North Texas in Dallas

I structure the lessons around the needs of the student, where we begin by exploring strengths and weaknesses and then adapt the materials and methods accordingly. It's a playful way of learning with a focus on positive reinforcement, with methods based on research about brain development and learning. For older students with a more serious approach, we spend time on developing good and effective practice habits, as well as setting clear goal for their development.
