About Ashton
Even though I am tutoring English, and it is my native language. I am also learning Spanish. I also know the difficulties of learning a new language. The reason why I chose to study Spanish literature and writing alongside english because it helped me understand how another culture thinks about language, and it has helped understand how to teach my native language better. Teaching, languages and writing are a passion of mine. Before being a tutor at the writing center of my school, I was an online ESL Volunteer.

I like to understand what the needs of the students and the assignment are.
Typically we will work on grammar, comprehension, comments from teacher or professor on an assignment, brainstorming, organization, citation format in a session.
The student and I will work together to prioritize one of these based on the needs of the assignment and the student, and we'll recap and plan what we are going to cover the next session.
I am very flexible in how I teach the lessons, and I allow the students to engage with what we are learning by asking targeted engaging questions instead of lecturing. I will also keep notes on the things we worked on for the students to refer back to it. I mostly have experience with high school and college students.
