About Isabel
I have been tutoring elementary and high school students in English for 8 years. I graduated from UBC with a BA in English literature (minor in creative writing). I can help you with skills to do with reading and writing, such as the IELTS exam, English essays, university entrance applications, or reading comprehension.

As an experienced tutor, I know that all students learn differently, so I change my teaching style according to what helps them learn best. I'll change the pace and include more practice if it's a particularly hard topic. If I'm teaching someone how to write an essay and they're very overwhelmed, I will model it for them and write the essay with them first, so the process is demystified and they can get a feel for how the ideas flow. Isabel has tutored me for a year in grade 12 English writing. She has been the most helpful tutor I've ever had. She showed me how to write an essay, and when I didn't understand something, she came up with a lot of examples to help me get it. She made a lot of things easier, like Shakespeare and Catcher in the Rye. She also helped me with writing my entrance essay for UBC. I got in and I couldn't have done it without her help.
